PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT IS HARD

PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT IS HARD

Let’s be honest, personal development is really bloody hard. Once you really start to take your own personal growth seriously, and you decide that you’re going to be a CREATOR of circumstance instead of a CREATURE of circumstance… Suddenly you need to be holding yourself to a higher standard.

It’s no longer acceptable to sloth in front of Netflix all weekend nursing a two day hangover from a Friday night out drinking about 8 too many vodkas.

It’s no longer acceptable to not bother working out for 3 weeks while stuffing your face with chocolate eclairs for lunch because you “deserve a treat”.

You get the point…

Once we become aware of the law of attraction, once we become aware of our own psychology, our beliefs, our fears, and ultimately our power to create our own lives… We also take on the responsibility to actually do something about it.

We can watch motivational videos all day long but unless we’re actually taking ACTION and moving forwards, things won’t change. And knowing this, comes with its own unique type of pressure - particularly for those of us who see ourselves as “overachievers”.

THINGS START TO CHANGE

THINGS START TO CHANGE

Netflix is replaced by goal setting and vision boards, laying in is replaced by morning workouts and listening to the radio in the car is replaced by audiobooks…

It gives us a great feeling when we begin this journey and really start working on ourselves, in fact it’s pretty typical to go “all guns blazing” to the point where your friends and family think you’ve lost your mind and joined a cult.

But it’s also pretty typical that at some point there may be a crash on the other side. I explain why in the video, but if I could give you one piece of advice it’s to remember this crucial point:

BALANCE IS KEY

BALANCE IS KEY

It might be tempting to devote your life entirely to this new found cause, but like everything - it will eventually become the norm. And when it does, you have to remember that as a human being you do have other needs beyond simply transforming into a full-time pinnacle of personal growth and business mastery.

This is where understanding your VALUES comes in. I say this from personal experience.

Fulfilment in life comes from nurturing all parts of yourself. Including the parts of you that want to have fun, that want to relax, that want to go on adventures…

The ultimate apex of productivity is “flow state”, and flow state doesn’t come when you’re exhausted, uninspired and mentally drained from pulling 100 hour weeks of “full time career” + “grow side business” + “master every area of life by maximising every waking second to be ultra productive with no downtime ever”.

Flow state comes when you’re balanced in all areas of your life. Keep that in mind.
