OPTIMISTIC VS PESSIMISTIC PEOPLE - AND WHY REALISM IS EVEN WORSE

OPTIMISTIC VS PESSIMISTIC PEOPLE - AND WHY REALISM IS EVEN WORSE

Why is realism the biggest killer of goals, dreams and visions? Why is it the reason that so many of us are trapped living “realistic”, mediocre lives that we don’t want to be living?

Because where focus goes, energy flows. What you focus on expands. So if all we’re looking at is the problems, the challenges, the reasons that we can’t and the reasons that we’re not good enough… Those are the things that will end up defining our life.

At least pessimism is openly negative. Realism however masquerades as the wise and smart choice, but actually sabotages results even more than pessimism does.

Realism is normally a more intellectual approach which allows us to talk ourselves out of facing what scares us. We’ll justify and logicise our way out of making big decisions with the whole “I’m just being realistic” argument. But nothing awesome ever happened from being realistic, and everything that we want is always on the other side of fear. And it REQUIRES being unrealistic to get there.

And being realistic always involves selling ourselves short. It always involves shooting far too low. And it always involves defining specific goals and visions as far out of reach. Which is not true.

IT'S TIME TO START BEING UNREALISTIC

IT'S TIME TO START BEING UNREALISTIC

I used to catch myself being “realistic” sometimes. But when I dropped that mentality and started being unrealistic instead, I quit my job, started my first company, scaled it aggressively and successfully against the odds, travelled the world, and now own 4 businesses. With two teams working across them both.

Not one part of that was “realistic”. If I was realistic, I’d still be trapped in a 9 to 5, miserable, working for someone else for 60-70 hours per week.

Stop being realistic, start believing that you can, and believing that it’s possible. Because it is. You’ve just got to decide to focus on all the reasons that you can, rather than all the reasons that you can’t.

Now go out and be unrealistically awesome!
